Declaring that he is "sold on Denmark and its people" and comparing its democratic nature favorably to the social structure and "snobbery" of England; describing the abundance of sailing vessels and lunch with a new friend who is "the best marine painter in Denmark"; discussing plans with Villiers and mentioning that they had been invited to lunch by Mrs. Conrad but he couldn't attend; mentioning that Mrs. Conrad will re-christen the ship [the Joseph Conrad] when it returns to Gravesend; elaborating on his and Villiers' ship investments; describing lunch with "two charming Danish ladies" and his painter friend Sigurd Kielland-Brandt, which involved a discussion at length about art.
