Recalling an amusing story involving a dinner with T. E. Lawrence and Wilfred and Lily Merton at which Lawrence was drenched when the maid uncorked a bottle of sparkling burgundy while standing behind him; indicating that Lawrence enjoys coming to London on his motorbike "Boanerges III" and is a "speed fiend," even having once broken the speedometer.
