Summary
Discussing at length his account book; saying that he published his book [Philosophie du Salon de 1857] without ulterior motives because he knew from experience that it would be unlikely that he could defray the cost of a book relating to art; saying that as a rule publishing extra copies of a book is at the author's expense; making recommendations as to which journalists he should meet.
