Telling her about the "superb official garb" he just ordered from "a topping tailor in Bond Street who makes uniforms for His Majesty's Guards"; complaining that the "villains at Leeds" left him "the hustings and polling-booths to pay for -- near a hundred and twenty pounds"; reporting that [William] Walker is making an engraving of him; noting that he has "at last sent off a long and ... very dull article to Edinburgh" about "Lord Mahon's [Philip Henry Stanhope's] History of the War of Spanish Succession."
