Summary
Saying he was "much grieved" to have missed her visit; thanking her for the "delicious jelly" and "lovely flowers"; mentioning a visit from Oscar Wilde and calling him "a very agreeable young man"; noting that they should remember that Wilde "gained a first prize in mathematics at Cambridge, the mathematical university of England," and "pardon some eccentricities" in him [Longfellow has his prizes confused -- Wilde actually won a poetry prize at Oxford].
