Summary
Indicating that he read the announcement of Hugo's latest work [most likely "Littérature et philosophie mêlées"] in the "Journal des débats" this morning and that "the traitor" owes him a copy since he never received "Etude sur Mirabeau"; asking if a copy awaits him at the Hugo residence or if she might send him a voucher to claim one from Renduel; suggesting that once he has read it, he will rush straight away "pour aller embrasser le littérateur philosophe avec une amitié sans mélange" (and expressing his pride in having constructed such a clever sentence); requesting that she not forget him this time, as he has awaited word from her for close to two months on a subject he can no longer recall; reminding her of his address at "grand rue verte, no. 30."
