Summary
A review of MA 3140.1. Alden notes that James' scenario [for The Ambassadors] "does not promise a popular novel"; describes the novel as a "complex mental web, in which the reader is lost if his much-wearied attention falters"; gives a brief summary of the novel; and concludes, "I do not advise acceptance. He ought to do better."
