Summary
Discussing the differences in his reception in the United States in 1834 and 1864. Noting that in 1834, he was "reviled, mobbed, persecuted and outlawed ... and regarded by President Jackson as the enemy of the United States." Stating that in 1864 he has been invited to the Capitol, welcomed as a guest of the people, "applauded while delivering the message for which I had formerly been denounced," and "thanked by President Lincoln."
