Dating: Hearn's relationship with Ellen Freeman seems to have formed in 1875. In 1876, they argued, and in 1877 Hearn moved to New Orleans.--Cf. Summary
Referencing her argument with Lafcadio Hearn, and discussing his position as mediator. Stating that she is "incapable of noting the same strange (sex) infatuation (or worse) under which [she is] laboring," noting that she is "indulging in a sickly (sex) sentimentality, that could only be looked for in a simple school girl of seventeen & which even there ought to be spanked out of her." Acknowledging that this letter will anger her, and reporting that Hearn is also "enraged." Mentioning that Hearn has left a package for her, and inquiring whether he should send it to her house.
