Begging "that I may not be favored with any more such kindnesses," noting that he doesn't merit them and "feel[s] the reverse of pleasant by accepting them." Referencing his 1874 wedding to Althea Foley, noting that it was an "insult to Society" and that "Society avenged it right speedily."
