Summary
Thanking him for a box of "remarkably fine" cigars from Madras ("of all places in the world!"). Regretting that Gullman does not plan to return to Japan, and intending to send him a copy of Hearn's Ghostly Japan. Reporting that Professor Foxwell is no longer at the University due to an argument over salary. Referencing Gullman's upcoming trip to Naples, and discussing his work on a manuscript "on the experiences of a commercial traveller," hoping that he will one day print it and discussing the style of the work, suggesting that Gullman "put the book in colloquial, don't make it literary."
