Part of a collection of 6 autograph letters housed in an envelope in the back of the autograph manuscript signed of Hardy's The Romantic Adventures of a Milkmaid. The manuscript and the letters are described in individual records (MA 820.1-7).
Written from Max Gate, Hardy's home in Dorchester.
Summary
Telling him that he is mailing the two manuscripts to Mr. Morgan tomorrow; explaining that the verse manuscript is a poem called "The Abbey Mason ... which is shortly to appear in Harper's Magazine"; wondering whether Harper's is going to illustrate the poem; reminding McIlvaine that he sent Harper's some photographs.
