Summary
Saying that he must have received Voltaire's statement by now and mentioning how it reflects his suggestions and further discussing it. Estimating that under the current circumstances Voltaire is unlikely to finish his tragedy for another year. Saying that Mlle. Quinaut might put on a play like Zaire, which would certainly induce good-feelings towards Voltaire. Mentioning a visit by Maupertuis, and referencing the Voltaire-Thiriot controversy. Asking him to burn this letter.
