Ironically reflecting on how he is wrong about everything; losing his patience and asking her to cease her constant bickering; defining the term "coquine" and saying that currently he would be better of with a "coquine" than a "maîtresse"; telling her she is not that "coquine"; saying they will never understand each other; threatening never to write again unless she sends back his letter; suggesting he is no longer her lover; saying she has been treating him unfairly; questioning the validity of her feelings.
