Summary
Telling her it is only fair she does not trust him, as he did not let her into the secret of his lawsuit earlier; explaining that his nature is to share only the happiness in his life; suggesting he is more affected by the loss of his lawsuit than he shows; acknowledging that one of his shortcomings is to promise to come to a soirée to see her but then to cancel because his life catches up with him; asking her who the "G." she mentioned in her letter is.
