Summary
Discussing his intention to publish a collection "on a cheap plan" of all the songs Burns has written for Thomson and James Johnson. Noting that he wishes to do this "as to do justice to my Muse, lest I should be blamed for trash I never saw, or be defrauded by other claimants of what is justly my own." Enclosing (not present) a certificate based on Mr. McKnight's model, which "will amply answer the purpose."
