Summary
Apologizing for not keeping their appointment the previous day (see MA 1625.23), and describing his afternoon spent with the barmaid called "Lena" instead. Noting that he was apprehensive about "Lena's" taste and expected to be disillusioned when he met her the previous day, but was happily surprised when she arrived "attired most daintily." Discussing "Lena's" character and his interest in her. Stating "this is the right type of girl" and comparing her to others, noting that "a girl in society is too much fettered & cramped -- another sort of girl is always bringing you down suddenly to the most base material standpoint-- but here you have the refinement of the mondaine with the independence of the cocotte -- & conjoined the special enchanting quality of the grisette." Mentioning their collaborative work on "The Passion of Dr. Ludovicus," and hoping to arrange an appointment the following week.
