Notes
Dowson and Moore collaborated on "The Passion of Dr. Ludovicus" in 1889; it was sent to many publishers but accepted by none. White rejected the manuscript in June, 1889.
Part of a large collection letters from Ernest Dowson to his close friend Arthur Moore, the English solicitor and writer, with whom Dowson wrote four collaborative novels. Items are cataloged individually; see related collection record (MA 1625) for more information.
To the "current' issue of The Critic above referenced, Dowson contributed a notice of "Oh! These Widows" at Terry's theater and a Paris letter in which, under the name of Pierre de Lombard, he dealt most graphically with the opening of the Exhibition. Moore reviewed the paintings at the Grosvenor Gallery.--Cf. Flower, p. 78, n. 2.
Written from B[ridge] D[ock], L[imehouse]. Addressed to Cher Collaborateur. Signed Ernest Dowson, Pierre De Lombard etc. etc.

Summary
Stating that he has sent the manuscript of their collaborative work "The Passion of Dr. Ludovicus" to the publisher F.V. White. Mentioning the current issue of The Critic. Discussing their rejection from Routledge, noting that someone (perhaps the editor Moon) read at least the first volume, as there are penciled annotations in the margin. Hoping to see Moore soon.
