Summary
Requesting a receipt for the horse given by Lorton, in his name, to an express rider dispatched to Geneva around Sept. 1; explaining that the express rider was either a wagon or a forage master dispatched from Sackett's Harbor and that the mail had been intercepted somewhere on Lake Ontario or at the mouth of the St. Lawrence; indicating that Lorton would be able to describe his horse and that the rider's gray horse had been sent back to Judge Nicholas in Geneva to await the call of his office.
