Summary
Thanking Austin for "taking so much trouble in the Gad's Hill matter, and for putting [Dickens] in such complete possession of the facts." Discussing his desire to purchase Gad's Hill, mentioning that he would be willing to give up to £1800 for it, but not more. Asking after needed repairs to the house, and mentioning that Dickens "cannot afford to buy the place for [his] own occupation" but can "only regard it as an investment." Mentioning Henry and Letitia Austin's intended visit to Folkstone.
