Summary
Worrying that Tennent has "set [Dickens] down as the rudest of [his] chance acquaintances"; explaining that when he was supposed to have dined with Tennent a "very dear young relative" [Mary Hogarth] was taken ill at his house and died there; saying that the heavy blow "completely overwhelmed" him; telling him that he is "sincerely desirous" to improve their acquaintance; giving him his address in London.
