Summary
Mentioning that Dickens called on Lord Morpeth [George Howard, later Earl of Carlisle] shortly after he received Austin's note, and that, when unable to locate Morpeth, he wrote him an extensive letter "setting forth all [Austin's] qualifications" [for Secretary to the proposed General Board of Health]. Discussing a mix-up in correspondence resulting in Morpeth being put out by Dickens, stating that "he must put himself in again," and noting that he mentions this to Austin only to assure him that Dickens has "not been unmindful" of his note.
