Telling her that he cannot get a copy of the newspaper clipping she asked for: "To get a copy of the Times newspaper for some unknown day in 1863 is a task such as is prescribed to the hero of a Fairy Tale, who is blest with a benevolent enchanter to help him"; mentioning "the first instance of the suspension of the habeas corpus in the United States."
