Summary
Because of a delay in the arrival of Dickens' luggage from Gad's Hill (causing Dickens to "pass tomorrow behind a hedge, attired in leaves from [his] own fig tree"), Dickens writes to request that their appointment be postponed until Wednesday. Also noting that "the family itself ... had been swept away ... into Sussex" but that he doesn't care.
