Summary
Discussing in detail the difficulties Lorentz is encountering while filming ["Ecce Homo!"], noting that he "had a serious battle with some Chicago gangsters who tried to stop [his] work." Expressing shock to hear from Annie Laurie [one of Steinbeck's agents] that Steinbeck had been ill, hoping that the "marvelous news" about his book ["The Grapes of Wrath"] helps him feel better. Noting that he has heard a "few rumors" about Steinbeck and fears that "people seem to know more about [their] business than [they] do." Sending regards to Rhea.
