Continuing her description of Lincoln Cathedral; quoting John Ruskin; mentioning Great Tom, the largest bell in Lincoln Cathedral; describing a castle built by William the Conqueror and a Roman arch in Lincoln; noting that she and Nathaniel Hawthorne are making Julian "write a little journal" (see MA 1377, Julian's journal containing entries written in Lincoln); commenting on John of Gaunt's stables and "summer palace"; saying that they are going by steamboat from Lincoln to Boston.
