Summary
A collection of nine autograph letters from Hume to various correspondents including Patrick Murray Elibank (MA 1040.1), Richard Penneck (MA 7641.2), John Clephane (MA 1040.2), William Strahan (MA 1040.3), Octavie Guichard Durey de Meinières (MA 668), Jean Charles Trudaine de Montigny (MA 1040.4), Jean Baptiste Antoine Suard (MA 1040.5), Alexander Montgomerie, Earl of Eglinton (MA 7641.3), and Richard Davenport (MA 1040.6). The volume also includes a journal entry (MA 7641.1). Many of the letters concern Hume's quarrel with Jean-Jacques Rousseau. Items in the collection are described in individual records (MA 668, MA 1040.1-6, and MA 7641.1-3).
