Summary
Concerning the delayed publication of Steinbeck's article ["Starvation Under The Orange Trees,"] noting that Lorentz has just received a letter indicating that the Scripps Howard Alliance feels the article "has been published in so many newspapers already they would be reprinting rather than breaking the news," though Lorentz knows of no publication other than in the Des Moines Register and intended publication [on 10 April 1938] in the St. Louis Register (which intends to pay Steinbeck $100). Inquiring whether the San Francisco News or any other syndicate has run the article. Noting that Steinbeck's letter (MA 6426.17) saddened Lorentz, who should like to send Steinbeck a guitar. Discussing his work and the potential film adaptation of Steinbeck's "In Dubious Battle." Mentioning Dean Jennings and Covici.
