Summary
Telling her that he will probably quit Paris and return to England in a week; complaining about the street noise at his current lodgings; criticizing France for its inability to produce gentlemen; noting that the "wealth which appears universal" in Paris astonishes him; commenting on the lack of ventilation in public places; describing going to the opera, which had "such ugly actresses that it was painful to see them"; asking her to send him £5.
