Summary
Telling her of his visit to Sir F[rancis] Goldsmid's house; noting that the first volume of his story "is being set up in type" but has "no title fixed as yet"; referring to an enclosed letter from an admirer [letter not included in this collection]; reporting the authorship of all the works in the Christmas number of All the year round; remarking that The woman in white has been translated into French and a French duke wrote to him "in raptures"; commenting on an extract from the Times (attached to the letter on p. 3) that reports the death of William Dodsworth, a family acquaintance.
