Part of a collection of 117 letters from Wilkie Collins to his mother, Harriet Collins. Items in the collection are described in individual records (MA 3150.1-117).
Telling his mother that he is in Paris for "three or four days" because he and Charles Ward "find provincial cities insupportably oppressive to [their] mercurial characters"; asking his mother to send him £5: "I ask for the five pound note because I shall want both boots and glasses when I come back, and can (if I have some extra money) get them cheaper and better here than London."
