In letters from John Ruskin to William Ward written from Venice in February 1877 he refers to sending him two parcels of photographs.
This collection was acquired in July 1948 from the estate of William C. Ward, the son of William Ward, 28 Southampton Street, Strand who was responsible for illustrating several of Ruskin's Works. William Ward also acted as an agent for Ruskin's photographs.
