Summary
Briefly describing summer travels from Broadstairs to London to Whitby. Discussing Collins's intention to leave All the Year Round (with Dickens's full approval), noting that Smith & Elder have signed agreements to give Collins £5,000 for the copyright of a new work (i.e., No Name). Noting that "no living novelist (except Dickens) has had such an offer as this for one book." Asking Ward to keep this "a profound secret from everybody," especially as [Sampson] Low "is so exasperated at losing" Collins. Inquiring as to the state of his accounts, and sending kind regards from Caroline [Graves].
