Notes
Part of a collection of 86 letters from Wilkie Collins to Charles Ward. Items in this collection are described in individual records (MA 3151.1-86).
The reference to Farnham may concern a visit to family friends of the Collins's, the Smiths, at Shedfield Green, Farnham, Hampshire. The manuscript mentioned may refer to one sent to William Harrison Ainsowrth or William Francis Ainsworth, who together operated Bentley's Miscellany from 1854-1868. Collins had presumably been asked for literary advice by an unpublished author and may have disposed of the manuscript in this way.--Cf. Baker, 213, nn. 1-2.
Written on stationery embossed "12 Harley Street, W." Signed "Ever yours WC."

Summary
Thanking Ward for the letter and information, and for forwarding a manuscript to Ainsworth. Noting that Collins has "given up the Farnham notion on Sunday," and asking Ward to visit after church.
