In the winter of 1890-1891, the Alexanders were in Florence.

Also concerning the health of health of Alexander's "Fratello," John Ruskin, asking "whether he is not now very near to perfect health," and hoping that "spring will take all the shadows away." Anticipating with pleasure "the possibility of [Severn's] visit" to Italy, and noting that Maria Zanchetta, "the Mother of the Orphans at Bassano" has died.
