Summary
Thanking Severn for her "wedding-day (i.e., anniversary) letter, which gave [the Alexanders] such a delightful picture of [her] life," and relating that 25 April is the wedding anniversary of Alexander's maid, Edwidge, but that "every one of the little party who were gathered there in the church of Le Rose [when Edwidge was married] is now dead, excepting herself." Expressing great happiness that Alexander's "Fratello," John Ruskin, sends his love to the Alexanders, describing the terrace garden and the improved health of Alexander's "Mammina," Lucia Gray Swett Alexander. Also mentioning the recent explosion in Rome (on 23 April 1891), and noting that "they say that all the windows in Rome are broken into fragments, excepting those of the room where the Pope was praying at the time."
