Summary
Concerning Christmas gifts sent by the Alexanders to Brantwood, and discussing the health of Alexander's "Mammina," Lucia Gray Swett Alexander and her "Fratello," John Ruskin. Expressing great pleasure at receiving a note from Ruskin "after so many sad months of silence," and noting that, while Alexander is "slower in giving way to hope," "Mammina feels as though the shadow had passed already." Noting that the health of Alexander's Mammina is "so well that she insists on sending [Alexander] away tonight to sleep in [her] own room, which [Alexander] rather dread[s], after more than four months [she] has never left her."
