Summary
Concerning the health of Alexander's "Fratello," John Ruskin: Alexander is "terrified " at the "very idea of the legal steps [Severn] speaks of," and concerned that the present "attack" is "something quite different from the delerium of illness." Reassuring Severn that Ruskin is "apt to turn against [Severn]" only when he is "not himself," and that the "more he is himself, the more he clings to [her]." Also lamenting that a new law has forbidden the sending of plants out of the country, keeping Alexander from directing anemone roots to Severn as requested.
