Summary
Discussing Alexander's recent "despondancy" over her "Fratello," John Ruskin's, "attacks," and her newfound "comfort" at the news of his recovery and that Ruskin remembers Alexander (Severn heard Ruskin "repeating her name"). Also mentioning the cholera in Bassano, and the gondalier Pietro Mazzini, and requesting that Severn reply with suggestions of a gift Alexander might have sent to Ruskin from London, lamenting that she cannot send "mountain strawberries" or "sweetbriar roses" from Tuscany. A postscript responds briefly to Severn's "just arrived" letter of 27 July.
