Discussing the unauthorized publication of his book [Oliver Cromwell's letters and speeches] in America by Wiley and Putnam; stating that the amount Wiley and Putnam have offered to pay him is not enough; suggesting that they ought to pay him "the clear market-value of the goods they have smuggled from" him as laid out in the "terms offered by Messrs Homan & Ellis." The letter mentions his friend [Ralph Waldo] Emerson.
