One of three sets of autographs of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence assembled by Pierpont Morgan. Mr. Morgan donated one set to the Library of Congress, one set is in two volumes (MA 552 and MA 553) and this set which is in a single volume.
The volume is organized by state. The volume begins with John Hancock (as the first person to sign the Declaration of Independence), Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Benjamin Franklin and then continues with signers from New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. The final letter in the collection is by Charles Thomson, Secretary of the Continental Congress.
