Notes
One of three sets of autographs of the signers of the Declaration of Independence assembled by Pierpont Morgan. He donated one set to the Library of Congress. Of the two sets that remain at the Morgan, this set is in two volumes and a second set (MA 554) is in a single volume.
The two volumes are organized by state. MA 552 begins with John Hancock (as the first person to sign the Declaration of Independence) and then includes signers from New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, and Pennsylvania. MA 553 includes signers from New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.
