          Summary
              A large collection of autograph letters and documents related to the 1781 siege of Yorktown during the American Revolution. MA 488 includes letters from Thomas Burke, Edward Carrington, Charles Cornwallis, Nathanael Greene, the Marquis de Lafayette, James McHenry, George Washington, and many others. In addition, MA 488 includes realia such as a piece of the flag Cornwallis surrendered to Washington at Yorktown (MA 488.142), textile fragments from Martha Washington's wedding dress (MA 488.144), and a strand of George Washington's hair (MA 488.146). MA 489 includes letters from  Henry Clinton, Lord Cornwallis, the Marquis de Lafayette, Henry Lee, Benjamin Lincoln, Peter Muhlenberg, Timothy Pickering, Thomas Nelson, Josiah Parker, the comte de Rochambeau and Baron von Steuben, portrait engravings, and engravings of the Surrender at Yorktown.
