Summary
Collection consists of diplomatic letters, some in alphanumeric code, from Phillip II, Emperor Maximilian II, Margaret of Austria and John of Austria to Don Diego Guzmán de Silva, and related documents. The letters concern various topics such as rebellion in the Netherlands, fights against the Lutherans, claims to the Queen of England for damage committed by pirates, the affairs of Flanders, the trip of Philip II to the Netherlands, the imprisonment of Prince Don Carlos, his illness and death, the projected marriage of Elizabeth of England to the Archduke of Austria and other important State affairs. Related documents form part of the reports of Guzmán de Silva to be remitted to Philip II.
