With a note by John Hungerford Pollen preceding the manuscript: "it appears that the ms., from which this is derived, was in the College of the Society of Jesus at Engelstadt in the year 1601 ... It is now Munich ms. v. 66 ... In the Vatican Library there is an ms. closely resembling this (Varia Politicorum, xvi. 297), of which a translation has been printed by F. W. Forbes-Leith in his Narratives of Scottish Catholics...."
Written in two different hands: according to a note by J.H. Pollen at the front of the vol., p. 1-13 may be written by the Rev. Jos. Stevenson, S.J.; the remaining 87 p. are in an unknown hand.
