Summary
Discussing an article he has written about Kauffer's illustrations for the poems of T.S. Eliot: "For some years past, I have been excited by your work and my article was an attempt to assert some of the values I have come to recognize in it. It is most kind of you to say you appreciate it -- the more so, as I could wish to have written it so very much better"; saying that he looks forward to the next set of illustrations and that he will try to place a review in Granta or another publication; discussing Eliot's reputation: "I doubt if there is any writer who has so much sustained attention focussed on him than Eliot still has in Cambridge. It was partly to feed this attention, partly from a desire to see enthusiasm for his Ariel poems more evenly and fairly distributed, that I wrote my article. The drawings seemed to me as important as the poems."
