The portrait photograph was probably taken in London in 1913.
J.B. Pond organized W.B. Yeats's third lecture tour of the United States from February 7, 1914 to April 2, 1914, and his 1920 lecture tour. Yeats probably inscribed the portrait for Pond in New York during this lecture tour.
