Summary
Thanking him for his letter and his "critical Muse" on 'The Lone Swallows';" saying The Introduction is, I see now, what Christ expressed so much better; my voice, I think, is only very minor and tiny, but to me it is a universal truth that the retention of the childlike faculty for desire of lovely things is our only hope if we are not to throw away our beautiful evolution, our wonder of lovely things of the earth. Nowadays there are bees dying on flower...They toiled all they could & leave their offspring to wander in another summer. I can't do any more; sometimes even now I long for a fulfilment of my dream beyond the grave. That is not a morbid thought : it comes with a sweet content at night under the stars, when all is tranquil. It refreshes me for further work;" saying he is making very little money and "American hasn't started yet, really - only a flash in the pan; telling him he will send him a copy of D[andelion] Days shortly...I will come to see you in the winter - as I don't want to see many other when in Brockley. Especially 'Julian Warbeck';" discussing his choice of the phrase 'eyes like a hare" saying "It was merely the memory of youth. Not sentimental - rather the agony & its atmosphere recreated. A hamlet - memory jumping into the grave of the past. One either says 'No chap would act like that in real life', or one thinks 'Yes I can quite understand that. Poor Louise. And Poor Julien. Both unknowing'." asking if he would send him 'The Londoners' article in the Evening News.
