Summary
Thanking him for a copy of his latest poetry; saying "I like the cheerful modest human manner which unites the various contributors so well; I like poetry to be produced thus, without clamour or envy. After all Bristol has a great name in lyrical ballads, and though you will have some trouble to catch Ancient Mariners yet there is another degree of excellence wh. belongs to our time, & I feel it in this collection. The last stanzas of the A.M. seem to be acted upon with genial ease and truth. But why "completing the series"? However, the Annual Anthology ended, & as T Hardy says of many good experiences / They came to an end."
