Autograph manuscript alphabet and text, 1740.

An exercise book containing a series of alphabets written in different calligraphic scripts, including alphabets with decorated initials and alphabets in batarde, "Italian" and other scripts. Each letter in the alphabet of decorated initials is followed by a Bible verse in a smaller italic hand. Alphabets are preceded by drawings of animals, the head of John the Baptist on a platter, and a hand holding a pen (4 p.); and followed by instructions in French for making inks (6 p.).
